We're very pleased to announce that for our second meeting, our guest speaker will be Dru Lavigne! Dru Lavigne is the lead documentation writer for the PC-BSD and FreeNAS projects. She is author of BSD Hacks, The Best of FreeBSD Basics, and The Definitive Guide to PC-BSD. She is founder and current Chair of the BSD Certification Group Inc., a non-profit organization with a mission to create the standard for certifying BSD system administrators, and serves on the Board of the FreeBSD Foundation. Talk description and location details are below.
"You Too Can Doc Like an Egyptian"
The PC-BSD, FreeNAS, Lumina, and SysAdm projects manage their documentation using the open source Sphinx documentation system. This presentation will provide a brief overview of Sphinx and why these projects use it. We'll then provide a live demonstration of how to find the documentation for these projects on github, how to make edits to the documentation from your browser, and how to submit your edits for review. By the end of this session, you will know how to make edits to improve the documentation for these open source projects and how to "doc like an Egyptian".
The location will once again be at the Blount County Library. We will be in the Dorothy Herron room - Room A. There should also be a sign directing people to the room in the hallway. If you have any questions about the meeting, you can contact us by signing up for our mailing list or visiting us on irc.freenode.net #knoxbug.
